Flowers Summer gathering 2009
Straight from Aunt Ruth:
Saturday, July 11, 2009 will be the Summer Family Gathering. It is on Sanford Lake, which is a wonderful swimming lake, fishing lake and it also has a Spray Park. Very Large. I have rented the Beachside Pavillion and we can get here at 8 am if we want to or I said around 11. It is a public beach so it cost $5.00 per car and $2.00 per boat. There is a boat launch on site. It is a great lake for skiing, or tubing. The cost is $50.00 and I will pay that, if there is money left from Christmas to help cover it, if not oh well. I will get directions for everyone, as soon as necessary. We could bring a dish to pass, and whatever you want to put on the grill. We need paper products, drinks etc. As it gets closer, we can all work on that, but this is a wonderful place and it is clean, and fun. The little kids will love it and the bigger kids can swim. It isn’t real deep, there is a roped off swimming area, but nice. It isn’t a state park, no camping. Just a day park.
Please contact Aunt Ruth if necessary, I will answer questions.
Let me know. Thanks Greg.
Ruth

FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Words from the Flowers Family Christmas Party Never have we had a year in which we have lost 3 dearly loved family members…. and it has been a difficult year for all of us. I am hoping that a moment of reflection might help to ease our sorrow.
Lord,
Jon, Puff and Richard are now gone from this earthly dwelling,
and have left behind this family who mourn their absence.
Grant that we may hold their memory dear,
never bitter for what we have lost
nor in regret for the past,
but always in hope of the eternal kingdom
where you will bring us together again.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight…
And leave us and the world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a candle
their lovely light will shine
to brighten up another place
more perfect… more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven
where they shine so warm and bright.
Our loved ones live forevermore
in God’s eternal light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death.
They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make.
Their love leaves an everlasting imprint in our memories.
And we find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enrichedby having shared their love. Let us be thankful for all the special momentsthat we have had with all of themAnd Let’s share a toast and enjoy the party…because that is what all of them would want us to do. Cheers!!

Richard L Flowers
Richard L. Flowers
Richard Lee (Dick) Flowers, 77, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Indian River on January 19, 2007. Details will be announced at a later date.
Dick was born June 13, 1930 in Flushing, Michigan. He was the son of Lovern and Florence (McCall) Flowers, who moved from Flushing to Indian River in 1957. Dick moved to Indian River in 1958, residing near Pigeon River on Mullet Lake. He was a long-time carpenter/contractor in the Indian River area, and retired from DuBois Electric Company in 1997. Dick loved the Indian River area where his hobbies included fishing and hunting, and in years past – piloting his plane over the rivers and lakes. He enjoyed playing the piano and entertained for years around the Cheboygan County area. Dick was a member of the Eagles and Sportsman Clubs in Indian River, the Moose and Elks Lodges and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local 876 of Grand Rapids. In recent years, Dick spent the winter months in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Dick is survived by his long-time companion Ann Smith, four children, James (Dawn) Flowers, of Flushing, Brenda Flowers, of Indian River, Debra Flowers, of Indian River, Lori (Todd) Dimock, of Marian, Michigan, step-son Marvin (Jan) Smith, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, brothers Robert (Virginia) Flowers, of Flushing, Ronald (Carol) Flowers, of Flushing, David (Ruth) Flowers, of Freeland, Michigan, sister Beth (Chuck) Marcott, of Fenton, Michigan, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Scott Flowers, nephews Jon Flowers and Robert Flowers.
Flowers Christmas Party

Saturday, Dec 8 at Flushing Township Hall (same place as in the recent past)
Planning to start a little earlier this year – 2:00 pm – and eat about 3:30pm
Bring a wrapped gift for your kids – we think Santa may show up again. We will plan some games and activities for the kids too!
We will need to get the $$$ fund back up. The summer picnic cost was more than we collected. We got a couple of requests to do the live auction like we did in past years. Greg has volunteered to be auctioneer. Each family should bring 2-3 rummage sale type gifts – nice things or funny stuff – either wrapped or in a paper bag. Oh yea, identify on the outside of the wrap or bag if what’s inside is for a child, adult, male, female or any-any. We will do a 50-50 drawing also !
I had a lot of paper and plastic products left over from this summer that I can bring – so we should be OK for that stuff.
Bring beverages for your family and a dish to pass. Each adult couple or single adult (if you don’t have a significant other) should bring something for the potluck.
Last thing – I need some volunteers to help notify everyone, find out who’s coming or not and do the other jobs. So I’m asking for one person to be the point person for each family to help organize and recruit other helpers.
