Richard Lee (Dick) Flowers, 77, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Cremation has taken place.  A gathering of family and friends will be held in Indian River on January 19, 2007.  Details will be announced at a later date. 

 

Dick was born June 13, 1930 in Flushing, Michigan.  He was the son of Lovern and Florence (McCall) Flowers, who moved from Flushing to Indian River in 1957.  Dick moved to Indian River in 1958, residing near Pigeon River on Mullet Lake.  He was a long-time carpenter/contractor in the Indian River area, and retired from DuBois Electric Company in 1997.  Dick loved the Indian River area where his hobbies included fishing and hunting, and in years past – piloting his plane over the rivers and lakes.  He enjoyed playing the piano and entertained for years around the Cheboygan County area. Dick was a member of the Eagles and Sportsman Clubs in Indian River, the Moose and Elks Lodges and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local 876 of Grand Rapids. In recent years, Dick spent the winter months in Zephyrhills, Florida.

 

Dick is survived by his long-time companion Ann Smith, four children, James (Dawn) Flowers, of  Flushing,  Brenda Flowers, of Indian River, Debra Flowers, of Indian River, Lori (Todd) Dimock, of Marian, Michigan, step-son Marvin (Jan) Smith, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, brothers Robert (Virginia)  Flowers, of  Flushing, Ronald (Carol) Flowers, of  Flushing, David (Ruth) Flowers, of  Freeland, Michigan, sister Beth (Chuck) Marcott, of Fenton, Michigan, eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Scott Flowers, nephews Jon Flowers and Robert Flowers.
